Like with everything, this blog needed a starting point, and as nervous as it is starting, sharing your voice, and sharing your views here it is.... my first post.
I have been toying with the idea of creating a blog for the last 18 months but there is always that worry about where to start, what’s the most important and pressing matter? What does my audience want to read? And how do I want this information to come across?
So, a very short introduction in case you skipped the bio, my name is Sadie, and I am currently studying my master’s in interior design at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. I went straight on to my MA course after completing my BDes Hons Interior Design with first-class honors.
During my undergraduate degree, I become very passionate about sustainability, with dissertations covering topics about fast fashion, our throw-away culture, and questioning sustainability and the term, and all the greenwashing that comes with it.
I often felt rather frustrated at the lack of emergency, emergency to be more sustainable and to be less wasteful.
I understand that sustainability means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but I do believe that if at the very least people would be more conscious of their choices and their impacts then maybe there is hope.
For my MA I felt it was important to expand my material knowledge in ethical design decision making and already, only halfway through I have found out so many interesting and horrifying facts regarding the everyday materials and products we bring into our interior spaces, all of which I want to share with you.
So, here is my starting point. I look forward to seeing where it takes us x
